It was heart-wrenching CPH Zoo didn't take the offers to house the young giraffe, their PR machine was closely akin to Freddie Kruegar's comeback party.
Sure, Danes are pragmatic and open, even commendable of how realism is at the heart of bringing up their children... but when the world is watching... doesn't do much for your "happiest people in the world" label (because you like live slaughtering), let alone your tourism reputation. Surely when you see the plight of the giraffes survival you would keep as many alive as you can. Isn't it enough we've concreted our way over thousands of species, wildlife and mother earths sanctuaries.
So here's a good story for you, maybe CPH Slagter-hus oh (sorry Copenhagen Zoo) will think differently next time.
